Former Minneapolis city council and school board member Don Samuels is running for Minnesota's fifth-district congressional seat, challenging the incumbent Ilhan Omar.
Samuels' first public interview since entering the race came today on WCCO's Sunday Take with Blois Olson.
"Ilhan hasn't helped herself," Samuels said. "She has made missteps, even after the last race. There are some folks who are coming (to support me) because of what I am, who I am, and what I will do."
Samuels lost to Omar in last year's Democratic primary by two percentage points.
He entered that race five months before election day, and says by starting his campaign now he has more time to meet with voters and potential donors.
