Don Samuels in the Minnesota snow

Any politician can make a point. Don Samuels Will Make a Difference.

Don is running for Congress on a promise – to reject today's performative and self-serving politics for the sake of progress. Don knows that public safety for all, affordable housing and healthcare, reproductive freedom, and fair pay and benefits for everyone are only within reach if we empower leaders willing to build common ground and work with their colleagues and the president to make a difference for those they serve, not just make a point.

Don Samuels knows the problems families and workers face. He came to the United States as an immigrant from Jamaica and worked nights as a security guard to pay for college and send money back home to his family. Having followed through on a lifelong commitment to live in the most challenged neighborhood in his city, he and his wife, Sondra, understand the consequences that policy failures and inaction have on real people. But, they know progress is possible, and since moving into north Minneapolis 27 years ago, they’ve worked to organize their neighbors for resources that enhance safety and opportunity for everyone in their community.

The first week in our new home, a bullet shattered the window of our soon to be newborn baby’s room. For some, it might have been a sign to pack up and move. For us, it was a sign to organize.
